Anger Management

I do believe the most destructive stress is anger.

Anger that churns inside without release turns into acid that eats your stomach and drives your immune system on itself.

Oh, the best way to release anger is with activity. Run, clean house, mow the yard, sing as loud as you can - anything but hitting.

Better yet is to stop the anger before it starts. Anger is fear and fear only starts if you believe that you have something to fear.

Do you lack the ability to stop your 3 year old from throwing a temper tantrum? Does it make you angry because you fear the loss of control?

You have told your teenager a million zillion times to hang up all the clothes from the dryer and he or she still just takes one pair of jeans and one shirt and leaves the rest to wrinkle. Frustration - Anger -- fear the loss of control.

If you give up the idea that you must control a situation and truly accept that you are just a participant and not judge and jury, you may just lose a big piece of your anger.

No I am not saying that you should ignore other people's actions or allow your children to get their own way and you pick up the pieces.

I am saying allow others to pick up their own pieces. Allow them to have power in their own lives. Empty the dryer of wrinkled clothes onto that teenager's bed and let them decide what to do. They may just learn on to iron.
