Anger Management

I do believe the most destructive stress is anger.

Anger that churns inside without release turns into acid that eats your stomach and drives your immune system on itself.

Oh, the best way to release anger is with activity. Run, clean house, mow the yard, sing as loud as you can - anything but hitting.

Better yet is to stop the anger before it starts. Anger is fear and fear only starts if you believe that you have something to fear.

Do you lack the ability to stop your 3 year old from throwing a temper tantrum? Does it make you angry because you fear the loss of control?

You have told your teenager a million zillion times to hang up all the clothes from the dryer and he or she still just takes one pair of jeans and one shirt and leaves the rest to wrinkle. Frustration - Anger -- fear the loss of control.

If you give up the idea that you must control a situation and truly accept that you are just a participant and not judge and jury, you may just lose a big piece of your anger.

No I am not saying that you should ignore other people's actions or allow your children to get their own way and you pick up the pieces.

I am saying allow others to pick up their own pieces. Allow them to have power in their own lives. Empty the dryer of wrinkled clothes onto that teenager's bed and let them decide what to do. They may just learn on to iron.

Are you Killing Your Pets Out of "LOVE"?

This in from my vet - Pet treats from the store - some have been recalled because of salmonella infections in dogs and cats. Most were those containing fish. He is very strongly against rawhides, hooves, treats with high salt content or sharp edges that can lacerate the stomach and intestines.

Short poem by Bud Stuart DVM

Food is Love?
If food is Love, then why is this,
That as we overfill the dish,
We fail to note our furry friend,
Looks like bloat will be his end.
He waddles to, He waddles fro,
How can it be we fail to know,
That all that "love" that he must cart,
Just speeds the day when he departs.
Perhaps the kidneys or the heart,
No matter which the body part,
You can be sure that one will give,
For fat is not a vote to live.
So use your eyes and common sense,
that's how you help good health commence.
Short their rations, not life span,
So that your Love's a healthy plan.

Pretty good advice for us human animals too!

Obesity linked to Alzheimer's and Disability

Two interesting studies on Obesity and the links to Alzheimer's and disability.

My oldest daughter is caught in the insidious cycle of insulin not behaving as it should. She is overweight and nothing seems to help. The doctors are running test after test. She is not diabetic yet but has a family history on her father's side. Even though she is watching what she eats - the pounds keep adding on. Most distressing.

It is all too easy to put on a few pounds intending to take them off next week. It is all too easy to put off doing any exercise today which turns into not doing any exercise for weeks on end.

One day you wake up and look in the mirror and the goblins have exchanged that beautiful healthy body for an obese caricature. Don't let those goblins win - FIGHT BACK. Change your diet and start to exercise even 10 minutes a day - everyday.

Handling criticism

Handling criticism is probably one of the most stressful things that I have to deal with.

Yesterday I received a very nasty email from one of my former subscribers to my newsletter. They unsubscribed but they wanted to let me know why. Now that I appreciate. Most people just leave and don't say why.

I published a marketing article not for the marketing (which I thought I made clear) but for the message that life is a one time shot and that waiting for the perfect moment to do something is wasting your life.

The subscriber obviously did not like the author of the article and had some scathing remarks about him and therefore included me specifically because I would publish something from this man. He questioned my morals and my honesty.

I believe the word used was evil.

Now I have been told that my sense of humor was too off the wall, and I been accused of being boring, and I have been told I had too much small town mentality but I have never been accused of being evil.

I know as a publisher I should have a hard shell that bounces the criticism off but I was almost in tears.

Dear former subscriber - I do not know what kind of pain you have in your life that would compel you to write such a hateful letter. I truly hope you can resolve your pain and find joy in your life.

I lost several subscribers this week. They did not say why but I am betting that I will not publish anymore marketing related articles no matter what.

Daily Stress - Cry or Laugh

I love this. It is the perfect example of how to handle anger and stress. A little action and a lot of laughter. I can see why the writer is 96 - bottled up stress kills.

The letter, shown below, is an actual letter that was sent to a bank by a
96 year old woman. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it
published in the New York Times.

Dear Sir:

I am writing to thank you for bouncing my check with which I endeavored to
pay my plumber last month. By my calculations, three nanoseconds must have
elapsed between his presenting the check and the arrival in my account of
the funds needed to honor it. I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly
deposit of my entire salary, an arrangement which, I admit, has been in
place for only eight years. You are to be commended for seizing that brief
window of opportunity, and also for debiting my account $30 by way of
penalty for the inconvenience caused to your bank.

My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused
me to rethink my errant financial ways. I noticed that whereas I personally
attend to your telephone calls and letters, when I try to contact you, I
am confronted by the impersonal, overcharging, pre-recorded, faceless entity
which your bank has become. From now on, I, like you, choose only to deal
with a flesh-and-blood person. My mortgage and loan repayments will
therefore and hereafter, no longer be automatic, but will arrive at your
bank, by check, addressed personally and confidentially to an employee at
your bank whom you must nominate. Be aware that it is an offense under
the Postal Act for any other person to open such an envelope.

Please find attached an Application Contact Status which I require your
chosen employee to complete. I am sorry it runs to eight pages, but in
order that I know as much about him or her as your bank knows about me, there is
no alternative. ! Please n ote that all copies of his or her medical history
must be countersigned by a Notary Public, and the mandatory details of
his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and liabilities) must
be accompanied by documented proof.

In due course, I will issue your employee with a PIN number which he/she
must quote in dealings with me. I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28
digits but, again, I have modeled it on the number of button presses
required of me to access my account balanceon your phone bank service. As
they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Let me level the playing field even further. When you call me, press
buttons as follows:
1. To make an appointment to see me.
2. To query a missing payment.
3. To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there.
4. To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping.
5. To transfer the call to my toilet in case I am attending to nature.
6. To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home.
7. To leave a message on my computer, a password to access my computer is
required. Password will be communicated to you at a later date to the
Authorized Contact.
8. To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through 7.
9. To make a general complaint or inquiry. The contact will then be put on
hold, pending the attention of my automated answering service. While this
may, on occasion, involve a lengthy wait, uplifting music will play for
the duration of the call.

Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also levy an
establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement.

May I wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less prosperous New Year.
Your Humble Client

I do have one question - Did the bank refund her overdraft charge?

Obesity and Cancer

Another scare to give you nightmares. A study in Australia has built a strong case for a link between obesity and leukemia.

The whole thing comes down to this. Your body is a very efficient machine that will mend itself. This leads to a long life. But, like any machine, it needs the right fuel and care.

If you put sugar in your gas tank, I don't think your car will go very far. Just not the right fuel. Same thing applies to your body.

Look at it another way - You have one hour. You must - wash the car, mow the yard, vacuum the house, shop for groceries and cook a meal for 12 people. Obviously most of those items are not going to be done or at best they will be done half-way.

Your body has the same decisions to make. You give it just so much in good fuel and maintenance and the rest is junk and sitting on your bottom. Your body must decide what part of itself it will sacrifice to maintain life.

Those simple little cells are the first to suffer and before you know it they have been invaded by other cells that are not life giving. Half way repaired cells don't do a very good job of keeping you young or active. Damaged cells that are not repaired become the home to tumors and cysts.

Why should your brain be bothered by trying to keep you walking without pain or effort when you make no effort to do any exercise?

Oh yes, we live longer now than 50 years ago - But at what cost. What quality of life in being tied to a machine that keeps your body alive but not moving. Where is the challenge to the brain that makes life interesting and worth living.

Wake up - start right now this minute to make some changes. What are you drinking? Go pour it out and get a nice glass of water. Your cells will thank you.

Restless Legs Syndrome I Conquered IT

If you have ever gone to bed, so tired you could hardly keep your eyes open, and find that as soon as you put your head down, your legs start moving. Bye-bye sleep.

You toss, you turn, you get up and walk around, you get up and read until you fall asleep in the chair and jerk awake from the sensations in your legs.

I have suffered from RLS for over a year now. My poor husband has also lost sleep due to my restlessness.

I am so happy to say that I have found a cure for me. I take a vitamin supplement to make sure that I have enough of the B's. That alone did not help that much.

I am a distributor for Amazon Herbs. I have a bottle of Calmazon. I have used it previously during the day when life and children get very stressful. You still retain your ability to function but lose the desire to kill someone.

Out of desperation and not really believing it would help that much, I took one Calmazon about 1/2 hour before bed time. Praise God, I went to sleep and slept all night.

Now that has become my nightly ritual - one Calmazon and not a single twitch.

Check out the Amazon Herb site and try a bottle of Calmazon. It just may do the trick for you. Sharon's Amazon Herb Source

I have included a link to Real Age for a quick look at their latest finding on RLS.
