ADD and ADHD Everybody?

ADD or ADHD Attention Deficient Disorder

Final month of school. I am so stressed trying to keep up with my youngest daughter who is graduating May 30, my oldest who is working on her master's and will be gone for a few weeks right after the youngest graduates, working on funding for college this fall, doctor's appointments for the grand kids and ..... it goes on and on.

Today found out that the youngest daughter has gall stones. I do believe that she is finally going to listen to me about proper diet. She has her driver's license now and her own car and is never home. Car is much worse than watching her ride around the block on her bike.

I recently gained access to a wonderful book on ADD and ADHD. I am spending all my available time on the computer getting the web site ready to put the book up. I am working on articles and will be starting a blog just for ADD. Did you know that adult ADD is not sudden onset--- it was always there just not diagnoses. I find I have several of the symptoms of ADD. I do believe most everyone can say the same.

Please be watching for the release of the book. I should have it up by Friday.

In the mean time take a look at this video. Well worth your time.

The Town of Allopath

Gotta go watch the President's Speech and then the final episode of Grey's Anatomy.

until next time smile

Dear Sharon,

As one who has recently been found to suffer from ADHD, I'd recommend that you first read a good book on the subject, then, if you think you might have the condition, seek an assessment by a medical doctor or clinical psychologist who has had special training in the field.

ADHD is a learning disability, and is not covered in depth in most medical schools. Most MD's recognize only the most obvious signs of extreme hyperactivity, and are not able to recognize attention deficits. I've found that many doctors are long out of date, and still believe that ADHD is a childhood ailment out of which most sufferers grow.

Most people, if they read a list of indications of ADHD, will find that they have some of those indications, but most people don't have ADHD. Only those with a number of indications that cause difficulty in daily life are likely to have ADHD. You may simply be distracted by extreme demands for your time and attention.

When you've got time, try to read, "Delivered From Distraction," which is an excellent book on the subject. Then, if you still think you have the condition, see a medical practitioner who has had special training in the field of ADHD. MOST MEDICAL DOCTORS HAVE VERY LITTLE KNOWLEDGE OF ADHD. ADHD IS A LEARNING DISABILITY, NOT A DISEASE, AND IS NOT COVERED IN DEPTH BY MOST MEDICAL SCHOOLS. MAKE SURE YOU SEE SOMEONE WHO IS QUALIFIED TO DIAGNOSE AND TREAT THE CONDITION. MOST FAMILY DOCTORS AND PSYCHIATRISTS CAN'T DO IT.

If you do have the condition, please remember that the medications used to treat it are very beneficial, but can also be extremely dangerous if improperly prescribed or carelessly used.
